For individual users of Trados Studio 2022, cloud access, formerly known as Trados Live Essential, is now permanently included in your product license (subscription or perpetual) at no extra cost, giving you:
  • Secure cloud backup of your work
  • Access to the online editor, letting you work from anywhere or easily collaborate with other translators
  • The option to prepare or create projects yourself from anywhere, including via our mobile app
  • The ability to process projects in the cloud while working on another project in the desktop application
Previously, Trados Live Essential was free for one year only for perpetual license holders (though it was always an integral part of Studio’s subscription license). It’s now permanently free for all currently supported versions of Trados Studio, including Studio 2021.

Manager view is a brand-new Studio view that gives you a whole new way to work with projects and files, inspired by the user interface (UI) of our cloud platform.

With the new view, you can work with both projects and files in a more unified way, in a single window with a clean, modern UI that makes navigating between projects and files much more intuitive. The view also includes key file- and project-related analytics so that you’ve got everything you need in one place. With multi-window and multi-monitor support, it’s very flexible in letting you work on and compare multiple projects at once. See the Manager view in action.

Should you wish to try out the new view, you can activate it by selecting the button ‘Enable Manager view (beta)’ above the ribbon in the Studio interface. Studio will restart and the new Manager view will appear alongside your existing project and file views. You can toggle it off in the same way.

For now, Manager view is available only as a beta release, which means it’s still in a relatively early stage of development. It currently works with local file-based and server projects (support for cloud projects will come in time) and supports a small amount of project management functions. As a beta release it will work best for translators rather than project managers, but we’ll be expanding its features and hoping to deliver a full release in the near future.

Yes, if your original license was for Studio 2021 Freelance/Professional, you will be able to run Studio 2021 and Studio 2022 on the same machine, as the license for Studio 2022 is a compound license. For this to work, you will need to update Studio 2021 with the most recent CU* and it will then accept your new Studio 2022 license. Note that this is for Single license owners only and will not work for a Network license. Network licenses can be configured in such a way that multiple versions of Studio can be served by the same license server, since it can run multiple licenses for different Studio versions in parallel. Contact your local RWS representative for details.

*CU stands for cumulative update. At RWS we are constantly reviewing and improving our products and release enhancements and hotfixes as and when required. These are bundled into cumulative updates that are installed automatically using the auto-update functionality in Trados Studio and MultiTerm. You will be notified automatically by the software when a cumulative update is available. A full list of enhancements and fixes for Trados Studio 2022 SR2 to date can be found on the RWS Community.

The upgrade process is the same for all users owning a Single or Network license.
